What Can Be Washed

What can be washed at The Clothesline? Here are some helpful guidelines.

We CAN wash:

  • Horse blankets and pads
  • Down comforters & other comforters
  • Quilts & blankets
  • Most feather beds
  • Pillows
  • Sleeping bags
  • Pet beds (fiber fill)

What we CAN’T or don’t recommend washing:

  • Grease-soaked rags & clothing (these are NEVER permitted at The Clothesline)
  • Items with sewn-on jewel embellishments
  • Leather items
  • Patio furniture cushions
  • Items (like pet beds) filled with wood material or sand
  • Items with care labels that instruct to hand wash or dry clean only

Please note that you use the machines at your own risk! If you choose to wash items in our equipment, we cannot be responsible for the suitability of machine washing for those garments. For example, you assume the risk of:

  • dyes that may run
  • fabrics or quilts that are too fragile for machine washing
  • wear and tear caused by other items in your load like buckles and belts
  • items in pockets that may damage clothing
  • fiber-fill in pillows and comforters that may become misshapen
  • items that are tagged “Dry Clean Only” or “Hand Wash Only”
  • items that are damaged by additives such as bleach
  • thin or fragile materials that cannot withstand heat drying

If you have questions about the suitability of some items for washing or drying, please see the attendant for assistance. Go to our Risks & Liabilities page for our full liability statement.
